Yesterday, at work, i had to resolve a problem on a PC with Windows XP that wont start!
After the windows splash screen, for less then a second, appears the blu windows error screen and PC restart.
When PC restart, before the splash screen, you have to press F8 and choose the voice about “don’t restart windows in case of system errors”.
After that, i was able to read the error on the blu screen: UNACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE.
Don’t worry, the solution is easy:
- Insert the Windows XP cd in your drive and boot from CD;
- At the first screen press R (to use the consolle);
- Digit CHKDSK /R, press Enter and wait…
- When it’s finished, digit EXIT press enter and put off your CD.
If you are lucky, your Windows XP start like the same!
If not, do the same procedure but at point 3 substitue CHKDSK /R with FIXBOOT.
If you are really unlucky you have two last solution: take your harddisk, put it on another PC (maybe a friends pc) save all your data then format you harddisk or install a fresh Windows XP on your buggy Windows XP (without format).
Good Luck!

Grazie mille per la tua spiegazione, mi hai salvato la vita nel senso che non sapevo più cosa fare per far ripartire il pc.
Grazie mille ancora.
Spero continuerai a mettere altre guide.
